Question:
Would anyone that is long term post-op. 1 year or more respond to this question.

I'm starting to experience pain in my bottom. After sitting for more than 15 mins. I'm starting to go numb in the buttock area. It's like I'm sitting on my (tail bone) so to speak and I have to switch from hip to hip until I can get up and walk. Has anyone experienced this? I have an excessive amount of skin that needs to be removed all over could this possibly be corrected with a body lift. Which is my next goal. Please only people that have lost more than 100 lbs. apply. Thank you.    — [Anonymous] (posted on February 5, 2002)

You ARE sitting on your tailbone! And probably some folds of leftover covering! And yes, I had to shift from cheek to cheek, also. BUT. Time. About 3 yrs post-op, it happened. One day, Butt Be Back hit me. There it was, fewer wrinkles & what I had wasn't as empty. No change on the scale, just a more rounded posterior. AS time went on, it was like a balloon reinflating, but in a GOOD way. The wrinkles ironed out, and my jeans still fit, even, but just a little differently. I ended up with only 2 wrinkles left! But then, I'm old, so if you are young, perhaps your will ALL iron backout without any more anesthesia, expense or scars!

I can so relate. I feel like I have turned into the princess and the pea. My backside hurts anytime I sit in a hard chair. I am 17 months post op and have lost 331 pounds. I had a panniculectomy and a beltplasty and it got rid of the lose skin but it still hurts. :) It is so ironic that the one thing that I wanted to do was to be able to fit into the bathtub to take a bubble bath and now it is to hard. I wouldn't trade it for the world though.

I had to respond and agree whole heartedly with Michelle. I am just at the 3 years mark and for the first two years, I hated my flat, fatless butt. It was just skin and yes, it hurt to even sit for long periods for the first year. That gets alittle better after year one but, the funny part of your question is this. I had just, last week, asked my hubby if he sees a difference in my butt. I was looking in the mirror and all of a sudden it wasn't just hanging skin. I actually "have" a butt again. Like Michelle said, I haven't gained a pound and actually lost 13 pounds this month alone, but my butt is rounder and firmer. It takes time but to be honest, I don't want to ever go under the knife anymore than I have to. I too, though, am 43. You might fare better if younger.

Two years post-op in April. I had the same pain you are experiencing. It has subsided. I hope I get the butt be back Michelle and Barbara are talking about!

Hi there, I'm not postop, but I'm used to the tailbone pain after sitting for a while! When I've been heavy and when I've been thin, I find that the thing that helps me most is doing crunches. Even just doing 20 a day for a couple of weeks would get rid of the pain for me. Just a though.

I took a pillow with me when I had to sit for long periods of time. Even to work! Yep , there was very little padding left , so I had to bring an outside source!

I am 2 years postop and down 140 pounds and, yes, it gets better (or maybe I am just used to it). I am sorry that I can't remember exactly when it got better, but it did!

It's been a year and 108lbs lighter, but my tailbone does hurt if I sit too long, even driving a car. I guess we don't have the padding as we used to. I even thought of having my PCP take a look.
