Question:
3 weeks post and have buring pain around my belly button, ideas?
In the last week I've been feeling a buring pain around my belly button not really on the incision, it is not swollen or bulging, not sore to touch and it doesn't hurt when I'm sitting or laying down, it hurts when I'm doing more like house work or even grocery shopping and getting in and out of the car, the more I do the more it hurts and radiates around my middle where my waist band is, I am wearing very loose sweat pants so I know its not that. Any ideas? — jfoulk4663 (posted on January 26, 2002)

Hi, I had the same burning pain around the belly button. I was in the
hospital 2 weeks for my surgery and left with one wound infection. About a
month later while it was still healing, I experienced the same pain that
you have and in the same ways. I don't want to scare you but i think you
should let your doctor know about it. A week after the pain started i woke
up and it was swollen and i knew it was another wound infection because of
my experience with my other one. I was right. I had to go to the doc that
day and they cut it open and it hurt for a couple more days then started to
feel much better. I now have two that i'm taking care of. I wouldn't freak
out if i were you but you should get it checked. it may not be the same
thing but it's better safe than sorry. Good luck and god bless!

I had very similiar symptoms and called my doctor. He told me that this was
an adhesion and that it was normal. He explained that as the abdominal wall
heals that adhesions can form. Exercise helped. And within a week or so, it
was gone. But, you should ALWAYS call your doctor if you have pain. Hope
you are feeling better soon.
