Question:
Is anyone out ther 5'7 260 who has already had the surgery?

This is kind of silly, but I was trying to find someone about my size to see what they look like thinner and to find out how long it has taken them and how low their weight went? I know everyone is differant, but its hard to picture it :)    — sonjasales (posted on January 23, 2002)

Sonja, I'm 5'6" and was 268, ok 262 my doctor's scale when I had surgery. I'm five months postop today and am 182. Don't have any pictures yet but you could do the virtual model on Lane Bryant or Lands End. It will help give you a little idea. I'm the same body type just smaller.

Sonja, I don't think this is a silly question at all! I do the same thing :o) We just want to actually see a realistic model of what we can achieve with this "tool"... happy hunting!

I am 5"7 and weighed 289 when I had my surgery on July 9,2001. I now weigh 194, down 95 pounds in just over 6 mos. I feel great and am finally able to do things I have not done in years. WLS was the best thing I have ever done for myself. I do not have any pictures, but when I see people I haven't seen since before my surgery, you can actually see the shock on their face. Boy what a great feeling that is.

I'm 5'6" started out at 270, and I'm now 138-140, wear a size 6/8 (Mostly an 8, but have a few 6's). All that - in less than a year from Lap RNY. I've got before/after pics on my profile...but I was 150 in my "after" shot so I've lost 10-12 more pounds since then. Much success to you! Terri in Sacramento, CA

I'm 5'7" and weighed 268 when I had my surgery on 8/28/01, My BMI was 41. I have lost 78 pounds as of today and I now weigh 190 pounds. I have lost a little slower than alot of people but I understand that those with the lower BMI's tend to loose slower than those with higher ones. I am steadily losing about 7-10bs per month now. I was in a size 22-24 and now am very comfortably in a size 14. Another 10lbs and I'll be in a size 12.

Well, I was 276 and 5' 7" at surgery 10 months ago - (-88) to 190 also, but I am just in a 16 jeans. So Debbie, you aren't too slow! I am! (haha) Shows that even though we are both 190 and the same height, she is a comfortable 14 and I am a snug 16. (pants - my hips are big, waist is tiny). Funny, huh? I think I lose slow becuase of _really_ bad metabolism, pre-op AND now. My family and husband never understood how I was so fat, I ate less then them, and I wasn't a closet eater...I do like sweets, but 288 lbs worth (at my highest).

Hi! I started out at exactly 260 and 5' 7" in July 2001. At 6 months out, I weigh 189 and wear a snug 16 in jeans, a size XL regular misses' shirts, size Large men's shirts. It's very good to read that other people are losing at a similar rate as me... I was getting depressed to hear all the others at higher weights who lose faster. The good news is that LIFE IS FUN these days! I feel great! I have lost over 60 " !! Good luck!
