Question:
I now use sweet and Low...will I be able to use it after surgery?
If I am not able to use it then how do I sweeten drinks...I know I am going to have trouble with drinking lots of water and I want to think about my options now. — Oldsoul (posted on December 6, 2001)

I use sweet and low in my tea daily. My doctor said to watch using
artificial sweeters because they may start you craving real sugar. I
really haven't found that to be the case. I figure compared to what sugar
I used to consume, artificial sweetners are nothing! Good luck!

Before surgery, I couldn't stand the taste/aftertaste of artificial
sweeteners. Since I've had my surgery, everything I eat or drink that's
flavored with them tastes like real sugar to me. I haven't had any
problems with it so far, and I use it every day (Crystal Light, Equal in my
tea, etc.)

I used equal everyday before surgery in my coffee and now post-op I hate
the taste of coffee but use a pack of equal everyday in my morning protein
shake with no problems.
Good luck

I really hate the taste of nutrisweet and much prefer the taste of Splenda.
I have also heard other people say - and this has no scientific root -
that nutrasweet or whatever the other artificial sweetners can cause your
appetite to increase. Not to mention they have cancer warnings all over
them where Splenda does not. Try splenda - it tastes just like regular
sugar.

I use Splenda. It is made from sugar (says so right on the pacakage). I
don't use Sweet n Low. That package says right on it "Has been shown
to cause cancer in rats". Scary!!

I use those little pink packets & have for 7 yrs. I cook with Sugar
Slim, but sweeten drinks & such with pink (or blue) packets. I've
never found them to send me off on a sugar binge.
