Question:
Can anyone tell me any suggestions for dealing with excess skin besides surgery?

Maybe it was the surgeon? Talk to a few surgeon's and ask for a list of his patients you can call. Other than surgery, there's really nothing else you can do to get rid of it. With some people, exercise will take care of it. But with some people, exercise won't take care of it (like me).
