Question:
Have I stretched my pouch?
I'm four months post-op and I think I'm eating too much! I've lost 82lbs so far and usually average about a 3pound loss per week, but I'm afraid I'm letting myself get into bad eating habits and I want to try and stop it before it's too late! My typical day consists of a mini-bagel with low fat cream cheese and coffee for breakfast, 4oz of cottage cheese for mid-morning snack, half of a bologna and cheese sandwich for lunch, 6 saltines or a handful of cheez-its for afternoon snack, and for dinner it's usually 4oz of either chicken, hamburg or turkey with 1/2 cup of veggies. It takes me about 20-25 minutes to eat my dinner and afterward I always feel like I've eaten too much too fast, I don't feel full, just like I've done something wrong! Can anyone else whose about 4 months post-op let me know if this is unusual? I'm afraid of a staple line disruption or stretching my pouch if I'm doing the wrong thing. I know what I'm eating is right, all low fat no sugar, but it's the amount that is concerning me. Thanks for your help! — DolcezzaVT (posted on June 20, 2001)

this sound pretty normal to me it looks like whats in my post op eating
plan, here have a look:
am: 1/2 bagel with 1/4 cup of rocotta and a glass of milk, snack: 1/2 cup
of fruit salad diner: a sandwish with cheeze, veggies and mayo + a little
apple as desert snack 1 fruit yugurt supper: 1/2 cup of rice, 1/2 cup of
veggies and 2 oz of meat + 1 orange as dessert and final snack of the day
is some social tea cookie with a fruit. this is a 1200 cal diet. maybe you
should try www.dietwatch.com it could help you counting... you youd have
1000 to 1300 cal per day

Nicole, it sounds like you are doing wonderfully - both in what you are
eating, as well as your weight loss so far. Congratulations!!! However,
if you do not feel satisfied at the end of these meals, and you are sure
you could have eaten much more, this may be something to address. The
quantity (as well as quality) you are eating sounds fine - as long as you
are not feeling deprived. Good luck to you !! Kevin
