Question:
Hair/research
I would like to know if any african american has had the surgery? If so, did you have your hair braided or in a weave. I hear you lose hair and I want to know if this is a good alternative. Can anyone help! I need information on how to resear my doctors. Who do I call or write. lori [email protected] — L M. (posted on March 21, 2001)

Hi I am too african american. I had the surgery in August of 2000. For the
surgery, my hair was braided. I have lost a tremendous amount of hair and I
am doing research now on how to get it to start growing again. If anyone
else reads my answer to you hopefully they can tell me just how long it
will take before my hair starts growing again. I have a bald spot about the
size of a grapefruit in the top of my head. Don't get me wrong. If I had to
do it all over again I will. I knew the side effects and hair I didn't care
about. It is still not that big of an issue except I do want healthy hair.
If it doesn't happen, oh well, I guess I will start wearing weaves and
wigs. I am extremely happy with my 80lb weight loss!!

Hi Lori, I forgot to tell you about a product when I e mailed you. There is
a product called Organic Root Stimulator Fertilizing Temple balm. You can
find it in drug stores like CVS and hair stores like Sally's. It is good
for thinning hair. I use it on my temples because I get a lot of roller
sets at the hairdresser and it is causing my temples to thin. It does work
but it takes a few months to notice.
