Question:
Obesity vs Morbid Obesity vs Super Morbid Obesity -- Can anyone help?
I have received a letter from my insurance requesting symptoms I have suffered with obesity. I was wondering if anyone could refrer me to a book, a website, an article somewhere that would distinguish the statistical difference in the different types of obesity (just trying to prove a point to them) Also, they have said that I need to be on a physician suppervised diet for 8 months, has anyone found a way to get around this. My physician would no longer recommend a weight loss program for me because of prior let downs. He has promised he would if I was denied for surgery, but he firmly believes surgery is my best turn for results. Any information you may have for me would be helpful, and of course prayers are always welcome! — Elizabeth D. (posted on February 16, 2001)

Check the BMI chart.I think it defines the variations of obesity.

Perhaps your physician could draft a letter to your insurance compnay
citing his experience with your previous weight loss attempts and stating
that he believes that further attempts would not be successful and that he
believes because of your history that WLS is the best treatment course for
you.
