I had a revision of the VBG on the 28th of March 2000. I first had the
surgery in 1980 when it was very experimental and had to have it taken down
as I never was able to convert to solid foods. I was at 267 lbs and now am
at 172 lbs. I have been here for about 3 months now. We do loose slower
than the rny, but we do loose. Do not loose hope as we will overcome

Hi Charlotte, I had VBG in 97 and was revised to an RNY in 5/00. I was
told to expect to lose slower this time because our bodies have already
"been there done that". My loss was slower and I've had to fight
harder to get it off, but it did come off! I'm now wearing a size 10 jeans
and would like to get another 10 - 15lbs off but I'm pretty happy where I'm
at. I had tons of plateaus with my RNY whereas with the VBG the weight
pretty much fell off of me. When I would hit plateaus, I'd break them by
eating low-carb. I'd stick to 20-30g carbs a day and push protein and the
weight would come off again in a big woosh!!! After a couple of weeks it
would stop and then it would be several weeks and I'd get another woosh.
It can be frustrating but don't lose faith. I don't know how your diet is
but try cutting the carbs and focusing on protein for a couple of weeks and
see if that doesn't get you started losing again. Good luck! Kellye
