I too agree that AMOS has been a much need help to me also. I have not
posted as much lately but I guess I have just gotten busy and to tell the
truth I did not ost because I got so tired of the negativity here. But jst
as you find it here you will find it other places as well.
No one or one site is perfect but I think that some of us (thosesending the
nasty email) forget that we are all here for one thing - and that is
support. Wether it is to give it or to receive it. AMOS has help many
people and will continue to do so. Just becasue you disagree with the
policy here does not mean you have to bad mouth and insult the other
members. Be an adult and move on.
I will continue to be an ANGEL to those that need me and I will continue to
provide all the information to others that I can. I just hope that those
out there that are harbouring such ill gotten feelings will, as I said
before, move on or GROW UP. Thanks to everyne for listening and Thank toy
to ERIC for all he has done to help us. Without this site there are
thousands out there like us that never would have even considered this
surgery. YOU HAVE ALOT TO BE PROUD OF........and I am not afraid to post
with my name.

I just wanted to say that I am very thankful for this internet site as
well. I have learned so much from all of the people here. I have watched,
like others, as some of us have moved on, become new people, created new
lives for themselves, etc.,,,I am just plain thankful everyday for this
site....It has really helped me stay motivated, and know that there are
others out there that feel the same way.

I would love to express my gratitude for this site also. Tomorrow will be
one year since I had my surgery and I know there are times I'd have not
made it before surgery without the support and care of people on this site.
I have made wonderful friends that have become like family from the chat
room. I have gotten lots of knowledge from the Q&A. I learn from
folks in chat and am now able to be a veteran who shares her experiences.
I am thankful for Eric and this site. I'm glad that he has a heart for the
obese, even though he is not obese himself, yet is willing to give up time,
effort and money to a cause like ours. Thanks ERIC!! I also am glad to be
a part of the volunteer team. I give back very little in return for what I
receive!! I am so thankful for Eric and AMOS and all that work diligently
to make it the best WLS Site there is!!

I am in full agreement with the anonymous poster! I have been on this site
for nearly a year...and am very grateful for it!! It has gotten me through
the difficult waiting period, and the surgery itself! I've met loads of
great people, and don't know what I would to without this site at this
point...or at any point! I got information on my doctor, insurance and the
various surgical procedures. It is truly a lifeline for me. There are
very few places on the net that people that suffer with MO can come
together with such complete acceptance of one another. I for one,
appreciate Eric's efforts on our behalf...Here's to you Eric!!

I also agree with this post. I've also found this site to be superior to
any other in terms of the depth of information and the degree of peer
support.

It is true that growth leads to split-offs. That does not have to
be a negative thing. I've noticed that many of the people who have joined
another site recently maintain good rapport with AMOS. I've also noticed
that some have their own agenda and seem to think they can not build up
without tearing down. I find that sad, mostly ego driven, and ultimately
undesirable to their own goals. C'est la guerre, right?

Thank you Eric for all that you do.

Ditto....I had my surgery on the 12th of October..I have lost 29
pounds..Praise the Lord! I thank Jesus everyday for this site and the
friends I have made here. I am often asked and I'm just a newbie about
WLS, this is my first and ususally my final answer...go check out this
site! :-) I was getting a little weary of the whining...and griping also,
but..I let it go...'cause sometimes you just have to! Much appreciation
from someone (ME) who only discovered this site in late June and has
already made it to the other side! God bless you Eric and everyone else
here at AMOS! Sincerely, TG

ERIC I am posting to this to let you know how incredible this site and the
chatroom has been for me. I came across this site about 8 months ago and
read every profile that I possibly could. I started going into the
chatroom to get more info and was warmly welcomed by everyone. It took me
quite awhile to open up to people as I was so embarrased by my obesity. I
lurked around gathering so much invaluable info and putting it into my WLS
notebook. Everytime I jumped in with a question everyone took time to
answer me and provide as much info as I needed.
I actually made the call for my initial consult while chatting -- with all
those people "holding my hand". Although I was a nervous wreck
everyone supported me and helped me through it.
Since then my chatroom friends have helped me through the waiting -- the
dreaded waiting -- with all its emotional rollercoasters. The support,
care, concern and info I have received have meant more to me than anyone
could ever understand. In fact just a week ago I had a bit of a meltdown
while in the chatroom as the waiting had become overwhelming, and my
chatroom friends (Lynniemoo and DanaTX, in particular) sent me e-mails
encourging me to come back to the room. I was so depressed as many of
our WLS friends are at some point and my chatroom friends would not let me
wallow in it. They pulled me out of it. I do not know of anyone else in
my life who would have done that.
Now, just today I got my approval and should know my date this week which
will be sometime in January. I came into the room and shared this info
and EVERYONE was so happy for me. Family and friends cannot relate or
understand this WLS journey like my chatroom friends. Recently I have been
able to "be there" for new chatroom friends in the same way that
the long-timers have been there for me (Thanks Lynniemoo and Jacque). I
have met people from all over the world and I know these people keep me in
their thoughts as I keep them in my thoughts. It is comforting during this
WLS process. THANK YOU ERIC for this site and to all who keep it going!!!!

I just had to let a post fly when I saw this. If it weren't for this
website, I would have never known about WLS, let alone actually had the
surgery. THANK YOU THANK YOU, to all the wonderful supportive members
here, but a BIG thanks to Eric for having the courage to build a website
for a group of people who REALLY needed it. As a direct result of this
website, I have lost over 200 lbs due to WLS. I still have a ways to go,
but I now have a life. I owe it to my surgeon, the people on this site,
and to Eric. Thank you all...

DITTO all the good things said about AMOS and ERIC. If I hadn't happened
onto this site I would not have found the answer to my prayers, the great
doctor with lots of experience (Dr. Ferrari)and lots of new found friends
with the same problems. I'm still in the process of getting the bypass
surgery, but I log into AMOS daily! It is my life-line also and I have
learned almost everything from this sight alone. THANK YOU ERIC!!! And I
hope to send money soon.

I, too, have benefited enormously from this site. Although I already knew
quite a bit about WLS, I learned even more from this wonderful place. The
chat room and various boards helped soothe my preop jitters and calm my
postop fears. It feels good now to help other people when I'm able to do
so, the same way I was helped in the past and still am helped now. I want
to thank Eric and all the volunteers on this site for all they do and all
the time they put in and all the sweat they sweat ... LOL. My life is now
a stream of endless possibilities! Open, transected RNY on 2/23/00, 150
cms. bypassed. Starting weight 325 ... now 194 pounds for a total loss so
far of 131 pounds! YIPEEEE!

I am scheduled for surgery 11/17/00. I would have never made the decision
to have this live saving, life changing surgery if I hadn't found this web
site. I had the same outdated, preconcieved ideas about the often
exagerated risks of this procedure. Hearing the truth from other people
who either suffer from morbid obesity or have in the past helped me to
decide that this surgery offered me the hope of being "normal" at
least once in my lifetime. I can't thank you enough for the information,
understanding and support. AMOS members are a uniquely caring and
compassionate group of people. This web site has helped me tremendously.
