Question:
I need advice from all OHP members!!
I'm getting ready to choose my OHP medical plan and I need some help. The two that I have narrowed my choice down to are CareOregon and Regence HMO Oregon. Has anyone had success getting approval from either of these companies? Please let me know ASAP! Thanks~ — Jenifer S. (posted on July 17, 2000)

Good luck getting the Oregon Health Plan to pay for WLS.. they will dry out
drunks and send druggies to rehab numerous times, but to them morbid
obesity isn't recognized as a medical problem. I have a friend a single mom
who is a full time college student who cound not get OHP to cover her
procedure. If you are going to try, check CareOregon, as Regence has an
exclusion that several people I know of have NOT been able to beat.. even
Walter Lindstrom has given up with fighting them. Sorry to be a downer, but
it's horrible the way people truly in need STILL fall through the cracks of
OHP, the plan that was supposed to help people who AREN'T on welfare but
don't get health benefits in their minimum wage jobs.
