Hi Charlotte...yes, it is possible to have revision surgery. Gastroplasty
can be revised to RNY or BPD/DS. To learn more about revision you might
want to go to www.egroups.com and join the OSSG-Revision mail list. Good
luck!

Great quetion. One that I asked my Dr. About long ago--and yes you can
have a 2nd surgery. I had a VBG 5 years ago and now i am appealling to my
insurance to allow me to have an RNY. Hpoefully your insurance carrier
will approve you on your 1st try, but if not there is an appeals process
that is available to you that you can pursue if and when the time comes. I
have gained back about 50 of the original 165lbs. I lost and I DO NOT want
to go higher, so here I am and if you have any questions feel free to get
in touch!Good luck

Yes Charolotte, revisions are an option. You'll find many folks on this
site who are in your shoes, including me! Revisons are being done with
increased frequency these days, as the VBG didnt work out for many folks.
Any WLS should be able to help you, or to refer you to a WLS who can.
There is a listing of surgeons on this site.

I, too, was revised from distal RNY with staple line disruption to distal
RNY with nice new pouch. Feel better, too. I had NO problems with ins OR
the procedure.

10 years ago I had a Vertical Ring. Worked great for about 2 years then I
gained all the weight back plus more. The problem is I can eat sweets
easily but good foods are difficult. I vomit about 3 or 5 times a week and
am miserable. I am going to have a by pass done late Sep.
