Question:
What can I Expect for Pre-Operative Tests
I'm sorry if this has been asked before, but I didn't find an answer in the database. Please share what most consider to be the standard pre-operative tests prior to insurance approval and surgery? Thanks in advance! — [Deactivated Member] (posted on November 3, 1999)

Your pre-op testing will probably depend on any comorbidities you may have.
I have mitral valve prolapse and was on Phen-Fen, so my Dr ordered an
echocardiogram. Other than that it was just routine blood work for me.

I underwent routine blood work, chest x-rays, upper GI and psychological
testing. All, excluding the psychological testing, are routine studies for
abdomimal surgery. Since my gallbladder had already been removed, I did
not require testing for gall stones, but this is also a routine procedure.
