Question:
5 weeks from my hernia/abdominoplasty and would like to know what kind of painn
I am 5 weeks out from a hernia/abdominoplasty surgery and I am having the weirdest kinds of pains and sensations in my stomach. It feels kinda like a burning sensation and my stomach is real sensitive to touch. It has a burning itching pain and would like to know everyone's experiece with this surgery and what kink of pain you had. Also there is portions, very small, of my scar that is still ozzing and refuses to heal very fast. Input on that too would be appreciated. Thanks, Maureen — Maureen C. (posted on August 20, 2005)

i had a TT on 5/19, and i still get weird sensations in my tummy. Im still
numb on most of it. As far as the burning i never had this maybe you should
call the doc and see if thats normal. I know that it took alot out of me
and i was in pain for quite a few weeks. Anyhoo id call the doc to see if
thats normal, it could be that your pulling at your muscles a little or if
he did muscle tightening that may cause it to. Come to think of it i got
some burning and was told it was b/c he tightened my muscles..it kinda felt
like i did to many crunches. The itching could be a # of things..are u
still on pain meds some can cause itching. To be on the safe side i would
call the doc, as far as drainage i dont remember having any that far out.
Keep us updated id like to know what your doc says

Hi. Your nerves start to regenerate around 4-5 weeks out and you may get
all sorts of "wierd" sensations: electric, needles and pins,
itching..like when your chin wakes up from the dentist. Typically your
body will sort this out and you'll feel normal but this can take a year.
Some sopts between belly button and pubic region may stay numb forever. Do
talk to doc about the oozing and non-healing....maybe you have a deep
stitch that needs out.

Yeah, I am having that at 2 weeks PO from my PS. and like the good doctor
told you it is the nerves that are healing. I feel mine at the top of my
incision at the top part of the "T" to the right side in between
my breasts. For me sometimes it feels like a burning or a tearing
sensation. I feel it more when I am on my feet for an extended period of
time or when I roll over in bed from the right side to my back or then over
to my left side. As far as the wound oozing, I would bring that to the
attention of your surgeon.

I have to repeat what another poster wrote... burning sensations,
electrical like zapps... I was in alot of pain from the hernia repair, but
it was all well worth it. The pain is controlable
