Please ask your doctor this question, we are not qualified to answer it for you.

I was released from the hospital this morning from my surgery and in my paperwork it says to wait 4-6 weeks.

And once you are technically released by your surgeon, please also use your own judgment about how you feel. Just because the surgeon has pronounced this activity safe doesn't mean you must assume yourself to be 100% again, ok?

Here is exactly what is written in the pamphlet given out by my surgeon. "You may resume sexual activity when you feel physically and emotionally stable. Women need to use a mechanical form of birth control, as fertility may be increased with weight loss and oral contraceptive may not be fully absorbed." Carmen

It's probably a good idea to at least wait until you get out of the hospital. Seriously though, I think everyone is different in their recovery and this is something you should most definitely discuss with your doctor. It depends on whether your surgery is done open or lap, how everything goes during the surgery, and how you feel afterwards. Best wishes for health and happiness always.

I was told by my doc that I can have sex again when I can sit on the edge of a chair and raise both feet off the ground without any pain, he also said thats when I would be able to drive again ;-) have fun!!!

Are you kidding? I didn't even want to be in the same room with my husband, who is a doll and who I dearly love, for at least 2 months after surgery. Sex was on my list of things to do right under handcuffing myself to a rabid dog. But hey, I was 45 when I had surgery and its different for everybody!

Hey there --- just pay attention to how you feel!!!! Most doctors' will tell you to wait 4-6 weeks --- I, personally, managed to enjoy my husband at about 3 weeks post-op--- it is purely individual and how you are healing --- K

My Dr. said I could have sex whenever I felt comfortable. So I thought it would be a good idea to wait until I had my drain pulled...I had sex about 6days post op. I did also have my RNY lapriscopic (sp) so i did not have the healing pain as alot of opens.
