Question:
need menus or recipies for full liquid stage

I'm on the second day of three weeks of full liquids and wonder if there's something besides blended yogurt or blended cream soup or pudding or sugar free instant breakfast that I can vary my meals with?? Thanks, Marjorie    — marjorie H. (posted on June 18, 2005)

Hi. You can also try SF Hot Chocolate. You can add your protein mix right into it. Good luck. Denise It's boring but it is for a very brief period of time and it does go by fast. Denise

I just took whatever it was I made my family for dinner, tossed it in the blender with some chicken broth and ran with it. I'm not real sure if that qualifies as a 'full liquid', but I became extremely bored with pudding and soup.

I would just add two things... Becareful with adding protein powder to hot stuff...Not all protein powder will handle this and becomes yucky. The second thing is...stick with it. This surgery is a major lifestyle change and the fact that you are bored is one of the things that we just deal with. Pretty soon you will be bored with soft foods etc. We have to find other things that please us because now, food has taken on a new role and that is for nutrition. God's Blessings to you! Dave

Is this is a pre-op liquid diet? I had two weeks of liquids. A few things really got me through. First of all, I found a good protein drink that I really liked - three times a day, that was my main meal, along with some sugar free Jello. Secondly, I asked my doc if it was okay to eat once or twice, since my liquid diet fell over the events of Memorial Day weekend. Knowing I would be able to eat at a picnic in a few days helped when things got rough the first few days. (If you do this, however, *check with your doctor first, and be reasonable*!!!!) Lastly, the liquid diet was the one thing about this surgery that I had control over. I promised myself that if something went wrong in the surgery, it sure as heck would not be as a result of my pre-op misbehavior. It paid off, my surgeon was able to see everything clearly, and I even ended up with one less incison than normal! Whether this is pre or post op, I would also suggest contacting a bariatric dietician for some further advice. If nothing else, just remind yourself that it is not forever, and it is ultimately going to make you a healthier person!
