Question:
Has anyone tried the South Beach Diet to help get to goal?
I started the south beach diet on last Tuesday and have lost about 6 pounds. That is all good. I am having some problems with nausea after about 3 to 4 bites of food. Does anyone know why this might be? I am hoping this will pass. — twin94 (posted on February 15, 2005)

I think the guidelines of the Southbeach diet are great for those of us who
had the roux en Y. When I first found my appetite starting to return
someone told me about the Southbeach diet. It was not quite so publicized
then as now. I did not follow the plan exactly but used it as more of a
guideline for the foods to eat or avoid. Really I could not have eaten
enough food to follow the plan. Phase 1 was great for getting my cravings
under control as head hunger returned. Phase 2 helped me loose my last 20
pounds. Carrie

Absolutely! I followed the general principles of the South Beach diet and
hit goal weight (-130 lbs.) in 10 mos. Keeping your blood sugar under
control is crucial for people like us. In fact, I don't think I could have
lost as much if I hadn't read up on blood sugar and insulin issues, as
discussed in the South Beach diet, and applied it to my diet (lean protein,
brown carbs).
