Question:
Im thinking about joining Weight Watchers and doing their flex plan with the points..
My question is any one using Weight Watchers flex plan to get to their goal? and how do you count your Protein drinks as points? does the flex plan help you with snacking? I have about 35-40 pounds till goal and Im having issues with snacking since Im able to tolerate more foods, just wondering is it worth me doing..Thanks — msstacey (posted on January 17, 2005)

I have 'joined' WW since doing my WLS - WLS is great - if you stick with
it... pre or post.. its the sticking to it that I always have trouble with
- but works if you work it as the saying goes. As far as protein drinks
you would count just like anything else using their flex formula. The last
time I joined I did their core plan and lost 2 1/2 pounds the first week..
I cant say it 'helped' with snaking but I did loose. Cant hurt to try it
works just as well as anything else...

If you need help curbing the snacking urge, try the South Beach Diet. It's
written by a cardiologist and uses low fat and healthy carbs to curb those
"I'm not hungry, but want to eat something" cravings. WW is a
great program, but didn't work for me personally because it didn't limit
refined carbs as long as they fit in w/ the points. These type of carbs
are what trigger my hunger, so it didn't help me as much as South Beach.

Stacey,
I'm two years post op and I've been going to Weight Watchers with my mom
for about 9 weeks. It has really helped me be more accoutable for what I'm
eating. I've lost 12lb since starting. I still try to eat protein based
foods and stay away from refined sugars. I count my protein shakes like I
do all other foods. Just use your point finder. Best of luck. By the
way, no one at WW knows I had WLS except for my mom.

I am post op at 2 years this April 2005. I think joining weight watchers
sounds like a fabulous plan. I had also been thinking about that. I
thought I was the only one.
I think I will join it now that I see other people have the same idea. I
am at 165 and would love to lose 20 more pounds. I am 5'6. Good luck to
you!

I joined when I was about 2.5 years out so that I could take back off the
15lbs I had regained. I started out with the core plan and quickly
realized I needed more accountability than it provided. I switched to the
flex/points plan and did much better with it. My problem was sticking to
it. I did great the first two weeks and just kept falling off the wagon
after that. I lost about 10lbs the first two weeks and was pretty happy
with that anyway. Also, I might add, I joined over the internet and would
not recomend that. I had no choice, my schedule did not allow me to go to
meetings, I would have probably done better had I had someone to be
accountable to.

I would also like to mention that when I
had WLS my MIL and Aunt joined WW to see if they could lose weight at the
same rate as someone that had WLS. They were both slightly smaller than
myself, but not by much and still needed to lose 100lbs. They hit goal
first. 0_o
