Question:
Anyone had a revision done at BTC (Batrix) after gaining wgt?

I am a little over 3 years post op from open RNY - lost 160 pounds and got to my goal. Over the past year I have put back on 50 pounds, honestly its primarily due to poor food choices. I would like to have some sort of "adjustment" or "revision" made to help me get it off. Has anyone been in the same situation? I know insurance probably won't pay but am willing to pay out of pocket. Has anyone approached BTC for revision (my original DR is no longer there). Thanks, really looking for some help before I put on any more weight.    — Judi D. (posted on January 4, 2005)

Judi, unless you have a mechanical failure of your surgery, I doubt you would find a surgeon, even self-pay to adjust or revise. I have heard of surgeons going back to in to make a patient more distal however that is usually reserved for the severely obese that lose a few hundred but still have a few hundred more to go. If you got to goal and have put back on 50 due to poor food choices, then you need to restrict calories and up the exercise to get it off. Its not rocket science, just hard work at this point. Its still a calories game and you are taking in more than you burn up. I can give you some ideas, if you'd like. Your profile is empty so I don't know if you know this already or have tried these things already, but you have asked for help. Go back to mostly protein for meals and cut way back on carbs, especially the white carbs. Eat frequently, like every few hours, small amounts, good stuff. If hungry, eat, just make good choices. Have things like scrambled eggs for breakfast, grilled meats/chicken/turkey over salads for lunch, grilled fish/meat/poultry for dinner with a veggie. Snack on fruit, protein drinks, protein bars, popcorn, nuts, cheese and crackers. And if you can't control yourself, get the junk out of the house!! And you gotta exercise. Even if you just start out with walking around the block one day, walk around the block plus 10 more steps the next day, then 20 steps the day after, twice around the block, go faster, etc, etc. And no excuses. I am the queen of exercise excuses-its too late, I'm tired, my fav tv show is on, etc, etc...bottom line is no excuses, JUST DO IT. I gripe alot but have a sense of satisfaction when I have finished working out. Good luck to you...

Judi, speaking as the coordinator for a surgical weight loss program - I doubt if any doc is going to touch you if you don't have a mechanical failure and you only need to lose 50 pounds. Your tool is still intact so you just have to use it. I know, I know, I know how frustrating it is but you can do it. You can grumble and gripe and complain (like I do - LOL) but you CAN do it. Hang in there and get back to basics - protein first, complex carbs next and simple carbs and sugar as an occasional treat. You can do it. Sorry this isn't the answer you wanted to hear.
