Question:
Has anyone had success getting around an insurance exclusion like the one below?
This is how the exclusion in our policy is worded; has anyone been able to get past an exclusion of this type? Health Services and associated expenses for the surgical treatment and non-surgical, medical treatment of obesity(including morbid obesity) are excluded. Melton,
Sounds like a question for one of the guys at www.obesitylawyer.com - be
sure to include which insurance coverage you have, as well as the name of
the employer through which you have it.
For me - no, there was no hope. So I self-paid. I went to Spain and had
my surgery with Dr. Aniceto Baltasar. It was the best thing that ever
happened to me. I'm so thankful my insurance DIDN'T cover!
Blessings,

My policy was worded the same way. Same exclusions. I was approved on the
first try. I do, however, live in Maryland. Maryland happens to be one of
the seven states that (at least the last time I checked there were seven)
says WLS must be covered if medically necessary. It's worth a shot. Go in
with all your bases covered and take it from there. Good luck.
