Question:
Does anyone have Arizona BCBS PPO ? Do you know how much they cover for the surgery?
Where you left paying alot we can not get a straight answer from them. No matter what Im having the surgery. — Kathy P. (posted on June 1, 2004)

Kathy, your policy should tell you what % is covered on an inpatient stay
for in network and out of network hospitals. Every policy is different.
Keep in mind that in network doctors/hospitals have already negotiated a
set fee for such procedures and your percentage is based off of that
figure. Calling and asking the phone rep will only cause frustration, as
it is a matter of finding your policy, the contract that is associated with
it, and for the hospital you have chosen. Then locating on that policy
what the negotiated rate is. Just make sure you choose an in network
surgeon and hosptial so you will be paying ALOT less because of the
negotiated rates. Besides, your coverage is usually better for the network
docs. Understand that for my surgery it was almost 45k dollars. UHC paid
a total of 6000.00. Other than my 100. copay the rest was written off.
This is typical of insurance companies.
