Question:
I have been told by me GI Dr. that the RNY causes a fatty liver

My surgeon says fatty livers are caused by us being MO. Some surgeons put pre ops on a VERY severe diet to shrink the fatty liver to make surgery easier espically LAP surgery. I think you should find a new GI doc, since yours isnt up to date on WLS and its wonderful benefits

Maybe you misunderstood? MO causes fatty liver and during the RNY, it makes it more difficult to do the operation if you have one.

Before WLS, I had a Fatty Liver that had turned into NASH(non-alcoholic stethohepitis)I had early sighs of cirrosis caused by the NASH. My GI doctor told me WLS would save my life!! My liver was biopsied during my surgery. Six months after WLS, all my liver function test were normal, fatty liver gone!!! Your Gi doctor needs to go back to school on this one!!!
