The best way to facilitate healing post-op is to get in your protein.

Get your iron checked NOW, ahead. See where it is, as so many of us are
almost anemic going in. A decent (not expensive) multi vite, vit C (doesn't
have to be expensive) up to 2000mg, protein supplements, and vite E til
someone tells you to stop it. And as I said, making sure your serum iron
& ferritin are "up there", not sagging around the bottom of
the range.

Hi Linda, I've got some great recommendations for you, I used these for my
Open RNY incisions and drainage sites: "Scar & Burn Oil" by
Simplers Botanical Co. (for the incisions), and "Wise Woman Comfrey
Salve" by Burt's Bees Co. (for the taped sites for skin soothing).
These two products are available through food co-ops and other alternative
health food sources. You can also find the oil online at:
http://www.simplers.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=SFNT&Store_Code=SBCL
You can find the comfrey salve at:
http://drugstore.realbuy.ws/B0000535N0.html
My surgical team have expressed outright astonishment and how fast and well
my incision sites were healing! I use the oil and salve morning and
evening. I wear a simple cotton camisole under my blouse or t-shirts as
the oil can stain a bit.
Good luck!!! - Deborah (Open RNY 10-25-03 226 start)
