Bariatric Advantage has a mint lozenge and a chocolate lozenge, both of
which are pretty good. They are best sucked instead of chewed, although the
bottle does say chewable.

I agree, Twinlab chewable calcium citrate is easy to get down. They sort
of taste like sweet tarts. I take 4 per day and chew one every few hours.I
get mine from enkstore.com and it is $7.95 per bottle.

My surgeon said I can take Viactiv, they are the chewable
"candies" in the purple box. He said we absorb them just the same
as other Calcium.

This is to the previous poster-your surgeon is wrong if you had an RNY.
Post-op RNY patients cannot use calcium carbonate for their calcium because
the calcium in the calcium carbonate is either poorly absorbed or not
absorbed at all.

Surgeons know how to cut...that's what they have been trained for. To
rely upon them for your nutritional needs is foolish at best...JR

Ditto to what John said! See my answer to the question right above this
one. You can chew the Citracal citrate and it works fine. No need for
something special.

I also use the Bariatric Advantage cheawable chocolate calcium. They also
have a mint flavor out now. I get mine from wlssupplies.com it is cheaper
than buying from Bariatric direct.

Have you tried the chewable Viactiv calcium chews? They're great. Makes you
feel like you're eating candy. You take 3 a day. They were recommended to
me by the nutritionist because I was having a hard time getting down 6 Tums
a day. They come in different flavors, I prefer the milk chocolate. It's
like eating a piece of caramel. Yummy!!

I had the same problem finding a calcium citrate that I could swallow. I
finally found it...nothing. I gave away probably 5 bottles of different
pills! I did find a chewable calcium citrate at a local health food store.
It can be ordered online cheaper that I got it at the store, for 8.55 per
bottle. I order 4 bottles at a time to save on shipping. They are about the
size of a half dollar and are a little tart, but to me no more than a sweet
tart. It has an orangy flavor. They are Soloray chewable calcium citrate in
60 chewables. I take 2 twice a day. You cen get them cheapest on line at
thehealthdepot.com. Feel free to email me if you have any further
questions. By the way, my dietician said something to the effect that
because our digestive juices don't work as they did, carbonate doesn't
break down like it does pre-op, and basically flushes right out. May as
well be eating candy.

To the previous poster: I believe that Viactive is calcium carbonate
instead of citrate, if it is, according to my doctor and other research,
you aren't getting what calcium you need because your body doesn't process
carbonate like it did pre-op. Just saying this out of concern. Please check
with your doctor or nutritionist. None of us want, nor do we want to see
our fellow peers, with nutrition problems.

If you get sick of chewing flavored calcium look into Twinlab calcium
citrate capsules (there are other brands). You can open these and add to
your protein shake or other drink.

I use 2. Calcium citrate + mag + D3 in a capsule. and CC + D3 in a powder.
I can break the cap down and drink it--no taste but some grit. OR let the
cap dissolve for maybe 45-60 sec and send it down as it softens. You can
spit test an empty. I do not do chews or liiquids or lozenges. yuck. I
prefer to swallow.
