Question:
Can you only drink 2 ounces of protein shake at a time?
I am 3 weeks post op and was wondering if you are only able to drink 2 ounces at a time or can you drink it like water? — Jaime K. (posted on August 3, 2003)

My doc has me drinking 1 ounce of liquid every 15 minutes, but after 2
weeks it doesn't stay like that I believe (I'll find out Friday). I think
you need to have your protein slowly to let it absorb - but just one
opinion here.

In the beginning, I would just sip on my shake until I got it (or most of
it) down. I'm almost 10 months post-op now and can finish a 15 oz. shake
on my way to work.

No, your amount for liquids, including protein shakes, is not the same as
foods (if I understand, that is what you were asking?) From day one I've
been drinking 2scoops of proscore 100 in 4 ounces of water (I'm almost two
weeks out from surgery). I sip slowly, and it takes me about 15-20 minutes
to drink it. You can drink as much liquid as you're comfortable with..
just slowly. It will not stretch your pouch, as the liquids move out of
your pouch in about 10 seconds or less. Drink up, and good luck.
