I'm afraid there is not a thing you can do. I have taken Bioten and zinc since the day I had my WLS. I have used the most expensive shampoos and conditioners made for thining hair or loss of hair. I have always had 70 or more grams of protein daily and still at 5 months out I have now started to lose my hair. There is no rime or reason why some of us lose our hair and others don't, but it will grow back and some people have had their hair grow back much thicker. Good luck on your weight loss.

I lost hair like crazy for about 3 months. I'm now 7.5 months out, and I take Biotin (5mg) and use Biotin shampoo and conditioner. My hair loss completely stopped - practically overnight. I'm not really sure if it's the biotin or it was just ready to stop, but it eventually will - just hang in there...

Myra has it right. I've just seen so many posts from people who did all the things she did, which some folks claim will prevent or stop hair loss, and they still lost hair. I've also seen a lot of posts from people who didn't do any of that and didn't lose any hair. It will grow back. <p> I lost a lot at about 4 months out. In fact, I was using one of those lint roller things 3 or 4 times a day and running it all over my back and shoulders. I'd also have to pull off the sheet to start a new one every time I did it. However, it did stop and my hair is now back to "normal". I think the best thing for me was that I had it cut very, very short to hide the loss as much as possible. I've worn it fairly short for years, but always had a perm in it cause I didn't think I could wear it as short as that if it was straight. However, maybe it's because I've lost so much weight, but the really short hair style looks good. I was never very good at doing anything with my hair and I love this very short style. I just wash it and then run a comb through it and I'm done. No more expensive perms every 3 months for me.

I have to agree with the other Myra on this one. I lost alot of hair and found this to be the most depressing and hardest part of having a rny. I was reduced to tears at one point. There was nothing I could do to stop my long glorious hair from falling out. I was doing all I was supposed to do and more. If you have long hair, a haircut will make it less noticable, that is what I did. I am in the process of letting it grow out again now. Time is the only thing that will make it better. Just hang in there and it will be over before you know it. Hugs and smiles.. Myra jo
