The water is the most important thing to get it...you don't want to get
dehydrated. You basically have to sip, sip, sip all day long. If you
are doing the protein shakes, you can count the liquid in the protein
shakes as part of your fluid intake...JR (open RNY 07/17/02 -181 pounds)

When I was preop, I tried to get into a regime of water and protein. Boy,
it just didn't work out the way I wanted. After surgery, when liquid is
all you can have, it will come naturally to you. I wouldn't worry about it
now. I drink tons of water now compared to me at preop. I am 4 1/2 weeks
out and can take normal sips of water and even drink a little more quickly
now. It is a major relief. I have recipes for protein shakes and they are
very good. When you are at that stage, e-mail me and I can send you
some(they aren't that bad). Good luck with everything. Open RNY 5/14/03
