Yes, I believe got one. I definitely got them after surgery until I checked out of the hospital.

I got a Heparin injection pre=op and one a day post-op until I left the hospital. They aren't too bad, just a bit of a sting, but they do bruise some people. I left the hospital looking like I'd been beaten in the stomach (which was where they gave my shots). Take care

Yep, got one two hours before surgery and then a few more times throught the day and next day. Probably 3-4 times total. I was VERY happy to get them. Also, remember to get up and walk, walk, walk!!! Best Wishes :-)

Yes mam, I got one about an hour before surgery and several, several while in the hospital. They really don't hurt but leave some nasty bruises. By the way, do not rub the area, it will make a knot.

I am blood clot prone and take coumadin. A week before I had surgery I quit the coumadin and was put on heperin which I gave myself up to the day I had surgery. I received heperin drip while in the hospital and came home on both heperin for two more weeks plus my coumadin.

I received one in my stomach before surgery and several after surgery until the day I went home. My stomach was polka dotted with little bruises from the injections but they did not hurt at all.

Yes, Jennifer. I did receive heparin to prevent clots. etc., in the stomach. It stings a little, but it's no biggy. LAP RNY 9/3/02 265/158/115-126...on a plateau right now Hadiyah, a.k.a.~~~

I received a shot everyday while in the hospital, then after that I had to give myself a shot for ten more days after being discharged.....the injections were prefilled so all I had to do was stick myself...please note the needle is so small it is almost painless...note I said almost...

My surgeon didn't use heparin but did use a similar drug. I had an injection the morning of surgery and one every day while I was in the hospital. The needles are tiny and they give them in the stomach because it absorbs better there - really is not a big deal.

My surgery is July 1st. I have been told that I will receive a Lovenox (similar to Heparin) shot in the morning before my surgery.

I had to be at the hospital 2 and a half hours early so they could start my shots. Then I had a shot a day(maybe it was twice a day but I dont remember) every day I was in the hospital. I have a BAD fear of needles but it didnt hurt one bit. ~Sidney~ Open RNY 10-23-02 down 100 and counting

I had heparin right before my surgery and then after in regular intervals until I left the hospital. I sweat it seemed like I got a heparin shot 15 times a day. But, that was probably the morphine playing tricks on me. I remember the nurses telling me that it's a very tiny shot, and, indeed, I don't remember any of them hurting much at all. It's a good preventative. P.S. you will bruise easily after the shots, for a little while, so don't be surprised.

Yes, I got a heparin shot an hour or so before surgery in the tummy and had a negative reaction to it. Got hot and sweaty and hyperventilated, anxious beyond what was normal....have to remember the name heparin so that I can request something different in the future...
