I am still pre-op and getting ins. approval stages, but I do know that Michelobe > Spell check please..lol.. has a new beer. Its their Light Ultra. This has the lowest carbs of any of their beer or any beer out there. It is pretty new. I am a nig Atkins diet fan, so that is why I even know this..Good Luck and have fun..

I dont know about beer... but I tried a Mimosa (champagne & orange juice) about 3 months postop. I ended up dumping on 1/2 a glass.

I am an occasional drinker, beer and wine only. A beer will have about 100 or so calories, and my only caution is that for me it causes gas. I prefer wine, and one glass is usually sufficient. BE careful, your absorption of alcohol will be quicker, you will feel the effects sooner. Don't drink anything if you plan to drive at all.

Hi Jennifer, Thought I owuld chime on in, I heard some where that Beer is nothing but empty carbs, I could deal with the empty calorie thing, if you're gonna have fun, have fun, If you're trying to still enjoy the holidays and stick to a plan, I would opt for a white or red wine, something light. About the same amount of calories, but what I hear less carbs. I dump on pure carbs so I have to take heed to those... Hope you have a safe holiday. I've already done my holiday drinking for the year. My husband calls me a cheap date, I get a buzz on 1 glass of wine that lasts up to 4 hours. Have fun be safe. Post op 7 months down 103 pounds

Happy New Year, Jennifer! If you're choosing between beer and wine, I'd go with the wine. Myself, I can't drink it. I've tried it once since I had surgery 16 months ago, and after 5 or 6 sips, the room was spinning. I think it was a combination of the sugar and the alcohol in the wine. I stick with a vodka martini with cranberry juice (it's a Cosmopolitan). When I drink (and it's only every now and then) I can usually have two, if I'm drinking a glass of water along with it. Also, as someone else said, make sure you're not driving, because you will definitely feel it faster and more strongly. Good luck, and have a great time! Denise

A 16 ounce bottle of Bud Light is 150 calories, 0 fat, 8.8 grams carbs, 1.2 grams protein, etc. I don't drink beer or wine so I can't help you, sorry. When I was on vacation 2 weeks ago, I found something strange/interesting. When I drank a pina colada with rum, I would feel absolutely nothing. But when I drank a chi chi (a pina colada with vodka instead of rum), I got smashed on 1 drink! Ah well, Happy New Year! :o)

Michelob Ultra is low in carbs, 2.6, but remember that our livers are on overdrive, so just be responsible.
