I doubt we will ever be able to eat the quantities of food we did pre-op.
But, we are certainly able to fall back into old habits and take in more
calories than we burn. Which means, of course, we certainly can gain
weight. I know the surgery is a powerful too, but we have to use it, and we
can choose to misuse it.
I know what you mean about the holidays. I managed to maintain, but I plan
to "get back with the program". Fortunately, the surgery allows
me succeed where I've always failed in the past.

Please don't feel like a failure or worry. Just go back to doing what you
know you should do. Heck I ate half a box of "regular" chocolate
nut candy Christmas morning! I think it was only a 6 oz box so it was
around 3 oz. It's Christmas, and I've been a good boy "most all
year". So am I worried? Nah. I'm back to doing what I should and I
have no guilt as I know certain days come and go. I want to enjoy life and
do indulge on holidays and birthdays then it's back to doing right the rest
of the time. :)

I like the saying, "It's not the little snapshots, but the big picture
that matters." So this one day here and there is not that big a deal
in the scheme of things. Just get right back on track and don't sweat the
one day of eating more than normal. :-)

I am so glad you asked this question. I too have been feeling this way. I
am on vacation for 2 wks and with no schedule to follow, I have been eating
sweets, not drinking protein, and not taking meds regularly. I know I have
been eating too many sweets. I am afraid to get on the scale, bc I know I
have gained. This has happened to me before and I got right back on the
right track. That's the beauty of this surgery. Even if you get a little
off track the tool helps you get back on track whereas before it was almost
impossible to get on track. Good luck to you. I know how you feel.
