Question:
OK, highly embarrassing and kinda gross, but I have to ask...I have some hemhorroids
(sp?) and have had them for years. But in the past couple of weeks, there's something in the same general area, but inside, that feels like a golf ball or something. I'm not having bleeding, or any discomfort, but I'm not sure what this could be. I'm nearly 5 months post open RNY. Any ideas? Should I be worried? — AmyL (posted on December 9, 2002)

see your doc, it could still be an internal hemmhroid, and it may need ot
be taken care of before it does start to bleed or cause problems.

This sounds like a rectal or rectiseal, I know I spelled that wrong but
thats how it sounds. I had surgery for it years ago and the dr told me it
might not hold because of my weight. It didn't. Its back but I will live
with it. You can have hemorroids along with this and it can be very painful
if you get constipated. See your gny.

You should get it checked out, because it may not be a hemorrhoid and
something that should be treated/removed right away.

I have a male friend who had the same symptoms. Go see your doctor! My
friend had a rectal fistula and it was impacted. When they are treated
right away they won't cause any big problems. Was friend was stubborn
(=man) and waited a long time before going in. But you should get it
checked out.

PLEASE GO TO THE DOCTOR!!! I was mortified when I had a problem there and
was too ashamed to see anybody about it. A small problem that could have
been corrected with an antibiotic turned into a big mess that could only be
corrected with surgery. I had a fistula and the pain was ridiculous. Trust
me the surgery was not pretty! Please don't ignore it!
