Question:
Does anyone have a copy of a durable POA and Will they could email me?
I'd like to look them over so I know what I've got to figure out before my surgery. I have a 3 yr old daughter whom I have sole custody of. Her father is involved but in no way capable of taking care of her on his own. Thanks so much for your help!! Lori — lawatson17 (posted on October 23, 2002)

If you go to www.willexpert.com, it goes through all the questions, then
puts it in legal form for you. If you go through the questions, you can
find out what is on there, and even order the legal one for pretty cheap.
I don't know anything about the POA forms though.

I work at a hospital and we offer anyone who is admitted to the hospital
the opportunity to meet with a patient relations counselor to complete a
living will and health care power of attorney (also known as a durable
power of attorney)free of charge. I'm sure that is probably the case in
most hospitals. Check with the admitting office.

Office Depot carries a variety of do-it-yourself legal forms. I bought a
will and limited power of attorney there; both come with instructions. As
far as your daughter is concerned, you can exclude her father from your
will, but he can still go to court and ask for custody. Your excluding him
doesn't mean the judge will agree.
