Question:
Is the date on the approval letter the actual surgery date? Also,
I received five letters from Aetna today. I am not sure what everything means. 3 of them were approvals. One said 11/02/-11/04 3 days surgical. The second said 11/02 Inj Anes Agent Other Peripheral Nerv Or Branch (Consider as TOS 04) 1 Time. The third said 11/02 Gastic Restric Prod, W Gast Bypas-Morbid Obes: W Shrt Limb Roux-En-Y 1 time. The other 2 were denials. First one is 11/02 Biopsy of Liver Needle;Done for indicated purpose at time of maj procd 1 Time. The second one is 11/02 1Day Surgcal. Sorry about so many questions...but i am a bit confused about all this and can't wait till monday for an answer. Impatient me! hehe — Alicia M. (posted on October 12, 2002)

The previous response is correct. When I received my Aetna authorization,
they showed a "dummy date" which my doctor's office gave them.
My doctor's office needed authorization before scheduling surgery, and
Aetna can't send out a letter (according to their pre-cert dept) without a
date.
My doctor's office called Aetna at a later date to give them the correct
surgery date. Nothing to worry about. Good luck and thank God for
Aetna!!!:)
