Hi Amy! I wonder the same thing about those Gazelles. They do look fun but hate to spend more $$$$$ on something else. I hope someone answers your question who owns one.

I just bought one and I like it very much. There is a difference between the Elite and Extreme. HSN sells the Extreme for $199.00. It is the low-end model. The Elite cost $400 and is made of sturdier metal and has the additional pistons to increase your workout as you get more fit. It holds up to 350 pounds. It is gym quality and weighs about 70 pounds. I had heard some people were dissapointed in the quality of the lower end. You can see more reviews if you go to the library and search for gazelle. They both have the computer. I'm like you, I've wasted a lot of money in the past on equipment, but this one is a keeper. They are sometimes cheaper on Ebay, you can save about $100 on the Elite there when they have them. If you buy through http://www.fitnessquest.com you can use the 30 day free trial, no shipping charges and the easy-pay plan. It is the only exercise equipment I've found that I can use with my knee injury and not make it hurt.

I brought the Gazelle 3 months ago. I bought the one on the infomercial for just over $300 over 3 month payments. I selected the one with the resistance. The one on QVC did not come with the resistance. If you choose to buy this make sure you get the resistance. If I didn't have the one with theresistance it could end up as another item that you won't use. After I put it together, and got it situated where I didn't have to keep taking it up and down, I started using it. I found it a little boring, but I now have a TV in the room and that helps. I have a very bad knee and this has not put any stress on it. I can easily do 20-30 minutes at 2.6-3.2 miles/hr. I think for me it was worth the investment, I had tried a Nordic track treadmill that had wrecked my knee for 5 months. Good luck in whatever choice you make.

Hi Amy. I too have spent way too much on exercise equipment I quickly dislike or basically never use. It took me a while to figure it out but I just won't exercise at home. While I'm there I feel like my time is actually my family's and I always had an excuse to stop exercising early or put it off or whatever. Now I drive over an hour (each way) to my nearest gym to exercise 3-4 days a week and am actually doing it CONSISTENTLY! It also helps to keep me motivated in that I set up a special payment plan with them in that I pay MORE for my membership if I don't go at least 3 days a week! (Needed it badly in the beginning to get there. smile)

Hi... I bought the Gazelle Elite about 6 wks ago and absolutely love it and I am not exercise motivated by any stretch prior to this. I do 2-3 miles a day at about 3.5 mph and as part of it do it at a faster speed to speed up the cardio. I am paying $400 for it but in payments and it is the one thing I did only for me. I have major knee damage and can do this without any problem. I was told to not use the resistence for a couple of months and then ease into it. My best to you.
