Question:
Should I still be having a bit of discomfort when eating soft foods?
I am 4 weeks+ post-op, and still feel a little"backed up" when eating..i.e. scrambled eggs. Then it goes through and I feel a little better. Is that normal? — Elizabeth P. (posted on July 19, 2002)

That is your body trying to teach you something. I find that when it
happens to me I have been eating too fast. For others it is because they
eat too much or don't chew the food well. So, think about how your eating,
it could be a singal for you. Best wishes for a healthier life.

I absolutely agree with Cheryl. Try eating slower, taking smaller bites
and chewing well...you just might find that it doesn't happen anymore.
That's the surgery working :)

Hi,Im 4 weeks postal and I feel the same way.Sometimes I just wish I didn't
have this sugery it cause so many problems that you don't deal with before
hand. If I eat any thing I can feel it pass and then i'll feel better, maybe
like the lady said its mostly when i eat it too fast or if its too
dry.Every person I talk to who have had the surgery say it gets better well
guess what I can't wait until it does.Good Luck and hang in there they say
it gets better.

Let's just say that its not abnormal at only 4 weeks to have some eating
problems. Most of us have some early on problems that resolve eventually.
For me, at 4 weeks, if I ate too fast, I got incredible pouch pain that
sometimes lasted hours. For others, one bite too much and it comes back
up. I found that the first meal of the day, which often is eggs, sometimes
its harder to go down for some reason than other meals and even at 5 1/2
months post-op, I usually have a warm breakfast as that helps it go down
easier.
