I'm 1 week pre-op and have been taking mega-vitamins from GNC, with an
extra biotin pill too. I'm also using Nioxin ahead of surgery to hopefully
make any hair loss minimal. I've read that it happens from month 3 or 4
to month 7. If you go to the 'library' link and type in "HAIR"
as a search word, you will see hundreds of Q&As on this subject.

Not everyone loses hair. I had a tiny extra bit in the shower drain when I
washed it, really hardly anything at all. Very few people lose excessive
amounts, so try not to worry about it too much.

I did not lose any hair until the 4 month. It happened pretty fast over
about a week. I little more each day until I was losing the same amount
each day. I have lost a lot in the last two months. I am not bald but I can
see the thin places for sure. I changed my stlye and that helped a lot. I
am 6 months now and it is slowing. I still have hair and I think it is
starting to grow back now. I have tried a few things but none worked for
me. I have lost hair before after surgery, so I did expect it. Don't worry
too much about this if it happens it will if not then you're lucky. It is a
very small and temorary price to pay for all the good things! Smile and
don't stress cause that does make your hair fall out!! Hee Hee. :.) Andrea

I am 4 months post op, and the hair loss is tremendous. I really do not
have thick hair so this is a great concern to me. It is so thin and dry. I
have tried nioxin and biotin with no results. I have taken tow biotin a day
since 2 weeks before my surgery. Last week at our support group meeting, we
had a lady to speak that was 8 years post-op and she had the same problem.
She also said she tried everything. Then someone told her to try horse tail
herb. She tried it and she said within 3 weeks her hair totally quit
falling out. I went to the health food store and asked for some and they
knew exactly what I was wanting, however, she said horse tail herb was
actually silica. I bought the pure silica as she said it would work faster
and stimulate new hair growth. Hope this helps you. Good luck!!

I am 7 months post and down 110 lbs. I have not lost any hair at all. My
hair is very fine and thin and I was really dreading losing any at all
because I was afraid I would have to wear a wig, but to this point, I have
lost none. I have been religious about my protein and iron and I'm hoping
that has paid off.

I started to lose my hair at 3 months. I am 5 1/2 months now and it has
started to slow down alot. The first 5 weeks I thought I was going to end
up bald. (I have very fine hair)I have little sprouts at the top of my head
so it is starts to grow back now. Don't worry about it just make sure you
take your vitamins and have enough protein everyday and you will be fine. I
was worried about it and it was so bad.
