Question:
I HATE MILK! What protein drinks are out there.....

I need a recommendation on a protein drink that you can mix with juice. I love Crystal Light. I don't do carnation instant breakfast, it's nauseating. HELP!    — Elizabeth P. (posted on June 6, 2002)

Most Protein drinks you can mix with water. They taste better with milk but you can still use water. Good Luck!

Isopure 0 Carb powder mixes pretty well w/water and has 50 gr protein. Isopure 0 Carb in the glass bottle tastes like Gatorade and again, it's 50 grm protein as well! Good luck!

I haven't had milk for 8 yrs. I loved it, but my doc forbids it, and quite accidentally I discovered that my body agrees with him! I take LOTS of protein supps, and there are many, many choices that do not contain milk. I prefer water with mine, but some do sugar free juices with them instead.

I hate milk too! I drink Extreme Pure Pro in the Tropical Punch flavor every morning. It is made by American Body Building. I've only looked in two stores and couldn't find it, so I keep going backto www.netrition.com to purchase it. It tastes pretty good! Good luck!

Make sure you check out the Nutrition Forum on the menu - then protein powders...it gives reviews on lots of brands. Hope this helps.

I have really disliked all the chocolate and vanilla shakes that I've tried; so far, I've tried about 15 different ones from various companies. What I do like are the fruit ones--the ones that taste more like fruit smoothies. My favorite is the Myoplex Lite Tropical Fruit variety--four different kinds (pina colada, banana, orange, and peaches and cream) are sold in a box of 20--five envelopes of each flavor. I use about 10 ice cubes, the recommended amount of water, half a banana and whirl it all in a blender. Very, very nice--quite thick as well--with 180-190 calories each, low carbs, and 25 grams of protein. My second favorite comes in a box with individual envelopes as well: Designer Whey Protein Smoothie--the flavor is AbsBerry Sundae. I mix it up the same way as I do with the Myoplex Lite. These aren't as thick, but taste like the kind of smoothies I get in juice bars--lots of juice bars here in Los Angeles! My latest addition to my protein routine is Extreme Pure Pro which comes in two flavors--grape and tropical punch--I like both. The other kind are a meal for me. The Extreme Pure Pro is more like Crystal Lite--mixes up in about five ounces of water in a tall glass with lots of ice--no blender. So with the Extreme Pure Pro, I'll drink one of those if I want to eat a little food at breakfast instead. For example, I'll have half a bagel with low-fat peanut butter and a glass of Extreme Pure Pro. The EPP is one scoop from a 2.3 lb container--120 calories and 26 grams of protein. The EPP also works well for me before bedtime, if I'm in doubt whether I've gotten in enough protein for the day, and don't have room for a "meal-sized" protein drink.

Have you tried some high protein soups. I saw two that looked promising yesterday. HerbalLife makes a tomato, chicken and a potato leek. I saw one a healthfood site a company named Bariatrix makes some high protein soups as well. I can't stand Milk either and since my surgery is in August, I'm looking around for alternatives.

Have you tried an unflavored protein powder? I use MLO Milk & Egg Protein. It is unsweetened and unflavored. You could make a great smoothie with a scoop of powder, 1/2 a banana, orange juice, and a couple packs of Splenda. I'll bet it would taste great! Spirutein also makes a powder called "Simply Natural" that isn't supposed to have flavoring, but it is sweet so you can't use it with soups and salty stuff like the MLO.
