Question:
I want to know about the biggest hernia.
I have recently discovered my own hernia that is huge and just out of curiosity i was wondering who has the biggest one so far. — Arlene V. (posted on May 15, 2002)

Please note that incisional hernias are quite common for those who have
open surgery, 30% get a hernia sometime after surgery. LAPs chance of
hernias are near zero, because tghe muscle wall is not cut.

Mine is in the middle of my incision. It is about the size of a softball.
It started out the size of a walnut. I am waiting on insurance approval for
a TT and hernia repair.

My hernia is not from wls, I had a c-section and ripped apart and had to
have reconstructive surgery in 1984. I did not even know I had a hernia
until after I started losing weight. When I first found it it seemed to be
the size of a silver dollar, now it is about the size of a baseball. I have
a appointment July 8th with a plastic surgeon to see about getting the
hernia repaired and a TT at the same time.

my brother-in-law *has* to have the biggest hernia *ever*. He's actually
had it since before surgery, but had so much fat that it was undetected.
They've decided to hold off on fixing it until he loses mre weight, so they
can getthe TT covered by insurnce. He's down over 200 from 502 and his
hernia is about as big as a small canteloupe.

Hi, Well my hernia is huge! I had open RNY and mine ripped from belly
button up to about an inch or two below my boobs. When laying flat on my
back and then sitting up it would buldge out like a big cantaloupe.
Supposedly I had it fixed but it sure doesn't feel like it cuz it still
buldges out just not as bad I guess. I have about a square foot of mesh put
in. It was done laproscopicaly with 19 holes. I'm not happy with it at all.
Make sure your surgeon sews in there and does not just slap the mesh over
it. Deb
