Question:
Need quick reponce..blood clots

Can someone tell me how long after surgery a person is susceptable to blood clots. My aunt had surgery 2/7 and is now in the hospital with a blood clot in her lung. I had surgery 3/7 and Im concerned. I had heparin, ted hose and compression stockings while in the hospital and dont know if she id or not. HELP    — L M. (posted on March 27, 2002)

My doctor told me before I was discharged (2/4/02) that I needed to make sure that I walked alot and sat no more than 1 hr at a time because blood clots could occur till 3 months post-op. But of course, ask your surgeon or PCP.
