Question:
I could not find the calorie intake amounts on my post op papers......
I was wondering how many calories we should be consuming each day... I am about 8 weeks post op. I ask this question as I do not feel full and I am watching my calorie intake, along with my water intake to get the weight loss started again. I cant believe I am already at a near stand still with my weight loss... I know it is the carbohydrates.... so I have cut those significantly and increased the protein greatly... Thanks.... — Pamela W. (posted on January 13, 2002)

At 8 weeks post-op I was told I should be taking in 600-800
calories per day, 70+ grams of protein, carbs less than 100 grams per day,
fat less than 30 grams per day, sugar less than 60 grams per day, and 48-64
oz of water per day. If your doctor okays it, and you have been moved up
to at least pureed foods, you might try some MET-RX protein bars. They
melt in your mouth, provide good protein, taste good, and fill you up. At
first you will probably only be able to eat 1/3 of the bar; at 5 1/2 months
I can eat 1/2 of one at a sitting.
