Hi! First I would check with your surgeon. Mine gives them to anyone who
asks. Also, check Links on this site. I believe there is a place there to
get them.

I have one but have never used it, I share meals with my wife. So far
restaurants have been very nice allowing sharing and such. Havent ate at a
buffet though. Of course I tell everyone I contact about my surgery in the
hope the info filters to a MO.

My surgeon refused to sign one when I asked him once. Can a regular doctor
do it for us? I always have to show my scar to prove I've had surgery. ;)

I tried to print out the ones available on this site and found them not to
print properly--cut off words and the like. What I ended up doing was I
have a program on my computer that makes business cards, so I made up my
own, based on the ones on this site...but I was able to put my own name and
my Dr's name on it--it looks very professional. And I got a laminating kit
from Wal-Mart and laminated 10 of them. If I ever lose one, I won't worry,
because I will have plenty more. I saved it on my computer, so I can
always print out more as I need them.
Good luck to all.

I have one, but have never actually used it. I have been able to get child
meals simply by explaining my situation. I have done this at Sizzler (a
steakhouse), buffets in Las Vegas and a few other places. Sometimes, I
just boldly order the child's meal without saying anything, especially at
an "order at the counter" type of place. No one has every
challenged me. Most often though, I split an entree with whomever I'm
dining with.

Hi.. 6 days POST-OP (down 14 lbs and 12.75 inches..WHOOPEE) My surgeon
gave me a laminated card with the restaurant card on one side, and the
MedicAlert card (Gastric Bypass - Do Not Intubate Without Scope) on the
other side.. before I came home from the hospital. I thought that was
REALLY a nice gesture - I didn't even ask for it..!! I have a group of
about a dozen friends that for years have been meeting a couple times a
month and heading off for some buffet. It will be nice that I'll be able
to only pay child's price, since I'm only eating what a child would eat.

My friends took me to Ponderosa, a buffet place for one of my last suppers.
Now they mentioned going there again. So what I am doing is stopping by the
restaurant at a slow time with my before picture, dining card, and ask the
manager if he will honor the card. Heck I will show him my incision marks
too. I wouldnt be upset if they dont honor it but will tell them my group
of friends will eat elsewhere. Frankly I want to return there to prove to
my friends there is eating and fun after surgery. My one buddies daughter
needs WLS bad.

I got my meal card from my surgeons office. So far I have only had 1 place
refuse it and they were quite nasty about it. (Old Country Buffet-long
story and I intend to write a letter concerning the managers remarks) But,
everywhere else had been great. (Boston Market, Olive Garden, I-Hop... I
normally order from the kids menu and the majority of the time I am never
asked a thing. But I carry my card with me just in case.
