Question:
How long does it take to hear from your insurance once your packet has been sent in?

I think it varies completely from insurance company to insurance company,
and this seams to be totally independent of particular situations [how
overweight you are and what co-morbidities you have.]
I was approved in TWO days, over a fourth of July weekend. Paperwork was
submitted on Thursday, I called the insurance company to verify they had
everything on the following Tuesday, and was told yes, and you're approved.
I was amazed. Thank you Oxford Liberty PPO.
The BIGGEST thing seams to be submitting as complete an
application/petition as you can the first time around, because if they have
to ask for further documentation, you are automatically in an appeals
process.
Good Luck!

It really depends on your comapny. But you should call and check with them.
Ask to be put through to the pre-certification department, and they should
b able to tell you how long. Then keep calling around the time frame they
gave you. It's a long and horrible wait, believe me I'm going through t
myself and it's onle been a little over a week! :) But they promise I'll
know today! So good luck to you!

It took my insurance company exactly one month to approve me. It would
have been sooner had I sent in my medical records with my request, but I
didn't.

I agree, it of course depends on your insurance company. I had BCBS of
Florida and was approved within 2 hours. It was kinda a freak thing too,
because they hadn't even received all the required documentation and
paperwork, and still approved me that quickly. I think the average wait is
anywhere from 2 to 6 weeks. You should be able to get an approxiamte wait
time by asking your insurance company. Good Luck! : )
