Question:
body odor from surgery?

I experience body odor on & off eventhough I'm an extremely clean person. Is it related to the surgery? Or can medications cause it? I'm 15 months post-op.    — Rose R. (posted on August 21, 2001)

Can you be more speciific? Is it like sweat order from your armpits or something different? Do you have folds of skin that are damp if so it could be that. I would talk w/ your Dr it can't hurt to find out whats going on. I hope you can figure it out.. I'm sure thats not fun.

Hi Rose, It may be your meds. My father, who after having many heart problems, taking massive amount of medications daily, smells funny sometimes. My mom says he was like sleeping with a medicine cabinet, yes she's rude, and their divorced now, and he is also a very clean person.

I think vitamins can make you have a mediciney odor about you. I know where I work they put loads and loads of vitamins in the food and we all go home smelling like vitamines. It is also something that gets into your skin. At least I think thats what you are talking about. Some people just take on the smell that is in their system. We all have our own unique smell. I don't think I mind that odor as much as body odor- sweat type odor. and if that is the odor you have - I have heard somewhere where they can remove your sweat glands and fix that right up.

Where does the BO come from? Under arms, thighs etc.. It may just be the way your body eliminates certain chemicals now. I'm preop, but If I drink beverages with caffiene in them, I sweat terribly. If I don't have caffiene, I don't sweat the same way.
