Question:
Dr. Marema's Office said they would handle all the insurance, but ...
I have not heard from them in about 3 weeks. They said not to call them. On one hand I feel that I need to take a more active role in all of this, but on the other, maybe I should leave it to the ones who do this all the time. When is a good "cutoff" point to contact someone? — Tara J. (posted on August 11, 2001)

Tara if I were you I would have already called, my Dr.'s office told me I
could call them every day if I wanted. I was approved within two weeks, but
on the first fax to them the insurance company did not receive the paper
work but luckily the Dr.'s office was calling to check on the status and
then refaxed my information and it was about 9 days from that date that I
was approved. I would call the doctors office and the insurance company. I
hope this helps

Hi Tara, I agree with the previous post and I can say from experience,
FOLLOW UP YOURSELF. It's good to know you have a first class surgeon, but
that comes with disadvantages too and unfortunately one of them is that you
can slip through the cracks. Read my profile and you'll understand what I
mean. I basically stayed on top of the request to the ins co every step of
the way and got very little help from his office. But when you eventually
go for your pre-op and see the large crowded waiting room, it'll all become
clear why. I hope you have a much better experience though, but make the
call now =O)
