Question:
Has any postop experienced severe gas/air bubbles in stomach during eating?
I am 1 mo. postop and have experienced severe episodes of gas (or maybe excess air) while eating. No relief with GasX, etc. I can tell the minute the first bite or drink of water goes down that I am in trouble. Any comments/suggestions? — Donna C. (posted on August 3, 2001)

I can remember getting that feeling of alot of gas/air when I was eating or
drinking as an early post-op. For me, after about 2-3 months post-op - it
went away. I think I was just eating too fast or because I was chewing so
much, I was also taking in alot of air. I used the infant simethicone
drops and for me, they worked great...but check with your doctor first.
Best wishes.

I am a week post op and have had excruciating gas pains. Sometimes with
eating and smetimes without. They have at times been so severe, they've
woken me up. I used a very simple method my grandmother (and my family
doctor too) told me. Boil some water and drink it as hot as you can handle.
The heat somehow breaks up the gas and you will burp or have it escape the
other end. It works for me. Hope this helps.

Hi Donna! I, too, am experiencing a severe burning sensation from what
seems to be my esphagus area/pouch area when I eat. Doesn't happend every
time, but I know the minute I swallow the first few bites if its going to
kill me or not! Moving around seems to help the pain and in the last few
days I've been taking the new soft Tums. Have any idea what it is or what
causes it?
