Question:
Can my insurance company deny surgery coverage?
I obtained health insurance from Blue Cross Blue Sheild about 10 months ago, and they originally quoted me one premium, but raised it due to my weight. They sent me a letter saying it that the policy is underwritten. Can they deny coverage for WLS because of this? I would appreciate a response if anyone has had a similar issue. — Tara J. You need to get a copy of your benefit summary and you will be able to
review your benefit directly. Look for exclusions and/or limitations. Yes
they can deny you if its not a covered benefit of your plan. But be sure
to read it carefully as there may be ways around it.
