Question:
Does anyone here suffer from PCOS?
If so, did the weight loss result in the return of your period? — Cindy K. (posted on December 30, 2000)

I have never been formally diagnosed with PCOS, but I believe that I have
it. I show all kinds of symptoms. The severe weight gain, severely
irregular periods, dark facial hair, inability to become pregnant (my
daughter is 6 years old and I have been trying ever since, no luck). I am
8 weeks post op down 53 pounds. Since surgery, my periods have become like
clockwork. I have not gone back on the pill, but plan to do that on my
next cycle cause I don't want to become pregnant this soon. I truly
believe that the minimal weight loss that I have experienced has regulated
me. Good luck

Yes Cindy, I have been diagnosed w/PCOS.
I am still taking provera monthly & have regular periods (though quite
short w/no cramps or pms symptoms-lucky me).
Prior to taking medication I didn't have a period in over 10 years. I will
continue to take the Provera til my next yearly check-up. You certainly
should discuss w/your doctor your particular situation..

I have PCOS and am on Glucophage and Yasmin-meds that have helped with
symptoms (acne, irregular periods, and facial hair). I lost about 20lbs
after starting Glucophage but have gained it back. Now I have high blood
pressure, so I am looking into WLS. I would also like to have another child
and am hoping that surgery/weight loss will help me.
