Question:
I need some ideas for healthy Indian carry out choices
Okay, I'm bored with foods and need to spice it up. I am familiar with Thai food, so I know what to order and eat. But yesterday, I picked up a menu for an Indian restaurant and have no clue what to order...does anyone have an idea what would be healthy for post-ops to order for carry out? — Allie B. I adore Indian food..I even cook at home! You are best off with vegetarian
dishes...they are often bean based and pack the protein. I adore chick
peas, so I order " chole" and there is a pea dish made with small
cubes of this dense cheese....it is like tofu , but it absorbs the flavor
of the spices and is not mushy or slimy....that dish is called "
mutter Paneer". Paneer is the name of the small cubes of that
homemade cheese. Mutter are peas. I eat these with a small serving of
basmati rice and I am so happy! If you like creamed spinach, they also make
a creamed spinach with those cubes of cheese called " sag
panner"....all in all, you get protein packed foods with great amounts
of fiber. Indian foods are rich in butter called " ghee" so be
careful not to do it too much! But enjoy and email me if ya want other
ideas! Enjoy!

order a dosa...a huge stiff crepe filled with vegetable curry. Actually,
most menus will describe what is in the meal. I can eat almost anything
from an Indian restaurant, but I tend to stay away from anything with lamb
or meat. Chicken, ie, tandoori chicken (chicken bits in a curry sauce
served over a bed of saffron rice) is pretty good. Bon appetite!
