Hi Kim ... I mix the Chocolate Designer protein with 8 oz of skim milk (two scoops of protein powder) and 5 ice cubes in the blender. Tastes like a chocolate shake to me. You could do 4 oz of milk, 1 scoop and 2-3 cubes to make it smaller. Good Luck!

Hi Kim: The first time I tried Designer Protein--in about week 2, I couldn't stomach it either! I waited a few days and tried it again and again. Finally, I make it so I almost enjoy it. I use 1/3 cup skim milk, 1/4 - 1/3 banana, a capful of vanilla and one scoop chocolate or vanilla powder. Also, ice to make it thicker and colder. It really is pretty good. Just this am I tried two scoops with 2/3 cup milk and it was okay--not as good, but I am trying to get more protien in one sitting. Sip slowly. Good luck!!

Kim, I can really sympathize with you sweetie because I am having the same problem. I can't seem to make it taste good either. In fact all of the protein shakes are too sweet and cause me to have diarrhea. I am definitely not getting the protein I need. Try mixing it with orange juice and some banana and ice cubes. Thats the only way I can stomach it and I hope it works for you.

I'm still pre-op and I've never tasted Designer Protein, but I was on the Optifast Program for 4 months once and that stuff was enough to make anyone puke. But if I mixed the chocolate in a cup of hot coffee, it tasted like a mocha, if it was vanilla - it tasted almost like a vanilla latte. So you might try that if you can drink coffee.

Kim, I use Designer Protein. At first, I put it in the blender with skim milk and ice. It made a thick drink. Now, I just use water. But I have to put it in the blender. It seems to mix better and has a smoother taste to it, not gritty. You can add frozen fruit, yogurt, anything really. Right now with the cold weather, I put fat free hot chocolate in the blender with hot water and 1 scoop of chocolate protein. Really good and warms me up.

I guess I don't understand why more people don't just try to eat the foods that contain protein...you know, fish and things like that. Sounds to me like a lot of you are spending a great deal of money on things that you don't like.

Hey guys whats wrong with proteins like fish, tuna, eggs, cottage cheese & yogurt Meats - chicken, things you have always eaten - just in 2-4oz servings now. Just chop and CHEW. These things you already have around the house anyway. And are definitely more appetizing than some yuckey powder. Grill chicken breast w/PAM & sprinkle with Molly McButter cut in half for tomorrow and enjoy. Tuna w/plain yogurt isn't bad. Or 2% cottage cheese with Fruit is delicious for lunch or dinner. Turkey is excellent protein and is great when warmed up with herbs like Rosemary & Sage. Even oatmeal or Grits is better than a powder, and lots less expensive. I like those little "Gobble Stix" (in the deli case) They are only 1 oz - fat free but lots of protein, and there is fat free cheese that is still high in protein. Read labels and you will learn about foods - some say low fat/sugar - HA for instance SnacWells cookies...those are 100 calories a cookie same as a regular cookie So be careful, My doctor gave me a fat counter & if sugar or Fructose is listed in the 1st 4 ingredients - don't eat it.

I use Naturade...add to skim milk, add sugar free NEstle's Quik, and ice in the blender...gives you 32-34 grams of protein. Tastes great. I have been using this for 7 months...down 127 lbs and have totally normal labs.Tastes great. See their website www.Naturade.com for locations of retailers...enter your zip code and local dealers come up. email me at [email protected] if I can help.

Try the Atkins Diet Advantage Bar. It is 250 calories, very filling, 18g protein, 2g. total carb, 0g. sugar. Sold at GMC, also Atkin's site. I've tried the Chocolate Coconut bar - many other flavors. Good for a change.
