I live in MA and have BC/BS HMO. There are no surgeons performing the DS procedure in state that I can find. I identified a surgeon in NY state and went to my PCP to get approval. She called the insurance and was asked to submitt the usuall history Four days later she received an answer from the insurance say ing that they would not approve me seeing the DS surgeon because they do not approve the procedure. The reason stated was that there were other WLS that they do cover that can be performed in MA. I don't want the other surgeries but I don't know what to do.
